Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To prevent occurrence of a shear drop on a square part of a groove due to concentration of grinding force of a grinding wheel at the time of grinding the peripheral surface of the workpiece with the groove formed in the axial direction by the grinding wheel. CONSTITUTION:A grinding wheel 28 is shaped so that the outer peripheral surface of this grinding wheel 28 makes contact with the inner peripheral surface 32 of a workpiece with a groove 34 in a wide range along the same inner peripheral surface 32 in the state where a rotation axis Xs of the grinding wheel 28 is inclined in the direction orthogonal with the cutting direction against the central axis of the workpiece seen from the cutting direction. While rotating the grinding wheel 28 around its own axis in the inclined state and pressing a workpiece 20 against the grinding wheel 28 in the cutting direction, the workpiece 20 is rotated around its central axis.
