METHOD OF JUDGING AGING OF BATTERY

PURPOSE:To achieve higher backup accuracy by judging condition of a battery with the checking of discharge time and a voltage based on a forced discharge from a cable center to enable periodical inspection of the battery, recording and prechecking of abnormality. CONSTITUTION:While a battery as power source for back up of an amplifier for a trunk of a cable TV is in standby being discharged by trickle charging, a discharge signal is sent forcibly from a cable center 17 to change a digital signal to an analog signal once so that a timer of a battery test circuit 14 is actuated to performs a forced discharge through a relay 3. When the discharge time and a battery voltage both set with the timer of the circuit 14 exceed target values, the battery is normal. But when they don't, abnormality or aging in the battery is determined while the forced discharge is returned to the original condition by turning OFF the timer. The judgment of the quality of the battery 11 is sent to the cable center to check the condition of the battery automatically at the cable center 17 thereby achieving a centralized management.
