Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To obtain a coating composition which is used for metal, wood, paper, leather, glass, plastic, concrete or the like because of its excellent storage stabil ity, water resistance, pigment dispersion ad adhesion to the substrate by admixing a specific amount of a polyhydrazine compound to a water-based resin. CONSTITUTION:A water-based resin such as a water-based polyurethane prepared by reaction between a compound bearing at least one ionic group and at least two isocyanate groups or groups reactive with isocyanate groups such as poly(butylene adipate) glycal, a compound having polyoxyethylene units such as polyethylene glycol, and an organic polyisocyanate such as isophorone diisocyanate is combined with 0.04 to 80 milliequivalents of a polyhydrazine such as adipic dihydrazide, per 100 grams of the polyurthane to give the objective water-based coating composition, excellent in storage stability, water resistance, pigment dispersion, and high adhesion to a variety of substrates.
