METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR MANUFACTURE OF THERMAL-TYPE PERMANENT CURRENT SWITCH

PURPOSE:To eliminate voids which are produced in a superconductor winding and cause quenching. CONSTITUTION:Cut trenches are provided in FRP cylinders on both the ends of a winding frame to wind a superconductor wire, the winding part is wrapped with removing thin sheets in which small holes are formed beforehand, the neighbourhoods of heater lead wires 7 and superconductor lead wires 8 are covered with silicone putty 14 and, after the vacuum casting of resin 10, the unit is put into a pressurized molding tank 16 and the superconductor winding is impregnated with the resin 10 under a super-high pressure and, at the same time, steam is introduced into a steam coil 19 to cure the resin 10. With this constitution, by impregnating the superconductor winding with the resin under a super high pressure and curing the resin, voids existing between the superconductor wires are compressed and eliminated, so that the superconductor wires are well bonded to each other and the voids can be eliminated.
