IMAGE FORMING DEVICE

PURPOSE:To obtain a multicolor image forming device which is small and performs the contact development able to obtain a stable print image by providing a moving/driving means for driving belt support means so that a belt-like image carrier is brought into contact with the developer carriers and separated from them. CONSTITUTION:The support means 11, 13, and 14 for supporting the belt-like image carrier 1 is provided upstream and downstream from the position where the developer carriers 3a-3d are the nearest to the image carrier 1. By moving the support means 11, 13, and 14 to developing devices 2a-2d by means of the moving/driving means 7, the belt-like image carrier 1 comes into contact with the developer carriers 3a-3d. At this time, the belt-like image%carrier l first comes into contact with the nearest one, deforms to surround the developer carriers 3a-3d, and touches the developers on the developer carriers 3a-3d. Because the belt-like image carrier 1 is in contact with the developer carriers as if wrapping it, the time when the developers and the image carrier 1 are in contact with each other, is extended, and the time required for development can also be extended. Thus, the table development can be performed.
