METHOD AND DEVICE FOR REPRODUCING INFORMATION

PURPOSE:To obtain a method and device for reproducing information by which the access speed of a read head to data is increased. CONSTITUTION:At the time of reproducing data from a compact disk (CD) on which data are recorded at a fixed linear velocity, the CD is rotated by means of a CD driving device at the rotating speed required to reproduce the data recorded on the inner periphery side of the CD and, when data recorded on the outer periphery side of the CD are reproduced, the data are intermittently read out. The read-out data outputted from a read head 12 are read out at a required speed through an SCSI interface 15 and outputted to a host device after the data are temporarily stored in a buffer 14. Thus, all data recorded on the CD are read out while the CD is being rotated at a fixed high rotating speed. Therefore, the access speed (seek time) of the head 12 to the data can be increased.
