Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To obtain the subject compound in high yield, by using a specific modified Raney copper catalyst showing high performances, high particle strength and excellent filtering characteristics prepared by a simplified method having reproducibility, as a catalyst. CONSTITUTION:In producing the objective compound by dehydrogenating a primary alcohol or a secondary alcohol, a modified Raney nickel catalyst obtained by dissolving out a ternary alloy containing Cu, Al and Fe is used as a catalyst. A catalyst having the composition of Al and Fe in the catalyst as atomic ratios of Al to Cu of 0.02 to 0.20 and Fe to Cu of 0.01 to 0.35 is preferably used.
