COLOR FACSIMILE EQUIPMENT

PURPOSE:To select the interruption of transmission or execution of black-and- white communication by an operator depending on the operator's desire when the facsimile equipment of an opponent is black-and-white one. CONSTITUTION:When the selection instruction of a communication mode is inputted from a panel 22 with a transmission instruction, a CPU 12 selects whether color transmission or black-and-white transmission should be performed before a line is connected corresponding to the selection instruction of the communication mode, and discriminates whether the facsimile equipment of the opponent is the black-and-white one or color one based on information received via a communication procedure signal after the line is connected. The CPU 12 selects the color transmission, and selects the interruption of the transmission or the execution of the black-and-white communication based on prescribed selection information (on which the intention of the operator is affected) when it is judged that the facsimile equipment of the opponent is the black-and-white one, and also, interrupts the transmission or executes the black-and-white communication corresponding to a selected result.
