METHOD OF ASSEMBLING RESILIENT RING AND DEVICE THEREFOR

PURPOSE:To assemble a resilient ring member such as a lip seal by surely and automatically fitting the resilient ring in an outer peripheral annular groove in a workpiece. CONSTITUTION:At first, a cylindrical workpiece W is set so that the bottom surface of an outer peripheral annular groove w2 in the workpiece W is flush with a surface 20b of a base. Then, a lip seal 40 is set so that a part thereof overlaps the upper surface of the workpiece W while the remaining part thereof lies on the base at the outer periphery of the workpiece W. Thereafter, a part of the lip seal 40 on the base is held being directed toward the outer peripheral annular groove w2 in the workpiece W. Thereafter, the upper surface of that part of the lip seal 40 which has not yet fitted, is pressed by a guide member 15a (guide protrusion 16) while the guide member 15a (guide protrusion 16) is moved along the outer periphery of the outer peripheral annular groove w2. Thus, the lip seal 40 is fitted in the outer peripheral annular groove w2 so as to complete the assembling.
