AGENT FOR TREATMENT OF THROMBOCYTOPENIA AND INDOLOCARBAZOLE DERIVATIVE

PURPOSE:To provide a new indolocarbazole derivative useful for the remission of thrombocytopenia caused as a side effect of cancer chemotherapy or marrow transplantation and the treatment of various diseases accompanying thrombocytopenia. CONSTITUTION:This indolocarbazole derivative is a compound expressed by formula I [R is H, a (substituted)lower alkyl, a (substituted)aralkyl. or tetrahydropyranyl; R A and R A each is H, a (substituted)alkyl, a lower alkenyl, etc.; R A and R A each is H, formyl, OH, etc. ; WA is two H atoms or O; XA is two H atoms which do not form a bond or forms a bond; when XA forms a bond, R , R A to R A and WA are not H at the same time]. The compound of formula I can be produced by reacting a compound of formula II with a compound of formula R Hal (R is R and R excluding H; Hal is Cl, Br or I) in an inert solvent in the presence of a base and subjecting the product e.g. to the reaction with dichloromethyl ether in the presence of a Lewis acid.
