Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To decrease the luminance differences of a back light and to make the luminance uniform so as to improve display quality by alternately arranging the high-luminance sides or low-luminance sides of plural pieces of fluorescent tubes. CONSTITUTION:The one end side directly and electrically connected to an inverter 2 has a high voltage and high luminance and the ground sides at the other end electrically connected to each other have a low voltage and low luminance with two pieces one set of the fluorescent tubes 36 connected in parallel. The lead wires of the fluorescent tubes 36 are, therefore, drawn out in directions varying to the right and the left. Two pieces of the inverters 2 electrically connected with two sets of the fluorescent tubes 36 are arranged on the side varying from each other to the right and left. Then, the high-luminance sides of the fluorescent tubes 36 arranged above are arranged on the right side and the high-luminance sides of the fluorescent tubes 36 arranged below are arranged on the left side. The high-luminance sides and low-luminance sides of the fluorescent tubes 36, therefore, overlap on each other as evident from lines 1 indicating the light emission of the fluorescent tubes 36. The luminance differences of a light transmission plate 37 are thus decreased and the uniform luminance is obtd.
