OPTICAL READER

PURPOSE:To provide an optical reader whereby a character and a bar code which are covered by a transparent plastic film, etc., are surely and correctly read. CONSTITUTION:A transparent plate-shaped cover glass 55 which is projectedly bent towards the outside of a case 10 is provided so as to be contained together with a video camera 20 and a light emitting diode 21 inside the case 10 whose one surface is open and also to be projected from the opening of the case 10. The optical reader is constituted in such a way that, at the time of reading the character, etc., the cover glass 55 of the opening of the case 10 is pressed on the surface of an object to be read so as to read the character, etc., on the surface of the object to be read.
