Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To prevent the deterioration of the transmission loss characteristic in a high-temp. environment by forming the coating layer with a PVC-base resin consisting of a copolymer contg. the units of PVC, ethylene and vinyl acetate in a specified ratio. CONSTITUTION:This plastic optical fiber cord 3 consists of a bare film 1 of polymethyl methacrylate, etc., and a coating layer 2 formed around the bare fiber 2. The coating layer 2 is formed with a PVC-base resin consisting of 20-65wt.% PVC unit, 10-50wt.% ethylene unit and 10-50wt.% vinyl acetate unit and/or the mixture of polymers or a PVC-base resin composition obtained by mixing 10-80wt.% fire-resistant inorg. fine particle in the PVC-base resin. Consequently, the transmission loss characteristic is not deteriorated even in a high- temp. environment at >=85 deg.C, and further a sufficient flame retarding property is imparted.
