Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To provide a seated state detector which can judge the seated state of a seat quickly and stably. CONSTITUTION:A transmission pulse signal 21 from a pulse generation part 11 is outputted as infrared rays from an LED3 via a modulation part 1 and an LED drive part 2, where the infrared rays reflected from a human body are detected by a light reception sensor 4, are inputted to a pulse judgment part 14 via an amplification part, a filter 6, and a waveform shaping part 7 in that only pulses within a period synchronized with the transmission pulse signal 21 are outputted as a reception pulse signal 25. The number of pulses of the transmission pulse signal 21 and the reception pulse signal 25 are counted by a transmission pulse count part 13 and a reception pulse count part 15 and seated and non-seated are judged based on a pulse detection efficiency indicating the ratio of the number of reception pulses for the number of transmission pulses by a comparison judgment part 16.
