MOISTUREPROOF PAPER

PURPOSE:To obtain moistureproof paper low in both water absorbability and moisture permeability and high in water repellency, containing each specific latex, wax and a copolymer. CONSTITUTION:A composition prepared by blending (A) 54-81wt.%, on solid basis, of a latex, esp., a styrene-butadiene copolymer latex, (B) 11-20wt.%, on solid basis, of a n-paraffin wax emulsion as a wax emulsion and (C) 3-30wt.%, on solid basis, of a solution of a copolymer such as vinyl ester-ethylenic unsaturated carboxylic acid copolymer (pref. vinyl acetate as the vinyl eater, and esp. crotonic acid as the unsaturated carboxylic acid), is used as a paper base material such as fine paper, regenerated paper, kraft paper, roll paper or corrugated base paper, thus obtaining the objective moistureproof paper high in water repellency, having moderate heat seal strength, and short in the time needed for its disaggregation when to be recycled as waste paper.
