Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE: To increase the bonding efficiency of the optical fibers by grinding a ferrule end face while inclining the same to a normal line of a grinding surface at a first angle, orienting the ferrule at a second angle different from the first angle to spherize the surface of the ferrule end face, and continuously forming the spherized part until a vertex of a spherized part and an axis of an optical fiber are coincident. CONSTITUTION: A ferrule 32 for storing an optical fiber end part having a chamfering part 34 is grinded at a first angle θ. This grinded ferrule comprises a flat angled end face surface, and comprises a larger part X1 at one side of a central line and a smaller part X2 at the other side. Then the ferrule 32 is inclined at a second angle θ less than the first angle θ with respect to a normal line of a synthetic film 27 for grinding to round the end face of the ferrule 32. This spherical part, that is, a vertex of a domed part is shifted from a center line of the ferrule 32 by a distance S1 . The distance S1 is gradually reduced to be almost zero, in accordance with the removement of a material, whereby a center of the axis of the optical fiber and the spherical part are to become coincident.
