Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To provide a backing material for one-surface welding which eliminates a recess in the top surface of a back bead due to a deficiency in degassing and makes the outward appearance of the bead beautiful and excellent. CONSTITUTION:The backing material for one-surface welding is formed by adhering tile-shaped solid flux 1 to aluminum foil 4 which is coated with an adhesive 5 over the entire surface on the opposite surface from the surface containing a bevel reverse surface. The solid flux 1 has a slag pocket 2 in the surface coming into contact with the bevel reverse surface and one continuous recessed degassing groove 7 is formed in the surface of the slag pocket 2. Consequently, the top surface of the back bead is prevented from being recessed owing to the deficiency of degassing in one-surface welding and an excellent bead shape is obtained.
