FIXING WAIR IN SINGLE BELT TYPE CONTINUOUS CASTING MACHINE

PURPOSE:To make solidified line continuous and to obtain a cast slab having good quality without developing any trace by providing devided pieces constituting a weir body arranged slidably each other so as to maintain noncontast condition of the bottom surface of the weir body with the metallic belt. CONSTITUTION:The bottom surface of the fixing weirs 5A, 5B having divided structure and the upper surface of the metallic belt 1 are made to the noncontact condition, desirably, the dynamic holding condition. That is, the starting part of the solidification of molten steel is separated from A-B line having a small round part and shifted to the inner part side and set on a DFE line. Both divided weir pieces 5A, 5B are mutually brought into tight contact at the F point being the intersection point between the BC line and the EFD line. Therefore, at the time of casting, the molten metal enters a gap between the belt 1 and the weir, and the solidification is not started at a knife edge part at the tip part of the divided pieces 5A, 5B, but started at the continuous line at the inner part of this gap. Therefore, the cast slab having the desired width without trace can be obtd.
