OPTICAL CHARACTER READER

PURPOSE:To provide an optical character reader which can improve its character recognition rate by eliminating the data writing defect caused to an image memory by the fluctuation of speed of a slip transfer motor. CONSTITUTION:A reading start pulse generating circuit 13 outputs a reading start pulse synchronously with the revolution of a CD servo motor 11 which transfers the slips. At the same time, an address comparator 19 compares the X address of an X address counter 16 with the final address to detect the end of writing of image data equivalent to one line to an image memory 15. A Y address counter 17 is counted up by the count-up signal received from the comparator 19 when the writing of the image data is finished. Meanwhile the counter 16 is counted up by the count clear signal received from an X address counter clear signal based on the reading start pulse.
