VOLUME MANAGEMENT TABLE FAULT RECOVERY SYSTEM

PURPOSE:To perform a repairing process for VTOC by completing processes for securing, expanding, releasing, and reducing a file area when an update processing for VTOC is restarted even in the case where the update process has been interrupted. CONSTITUTION:When the file area in a data area 1-2 is secured, expanded, released, and reduced, a volume information management label setting means 3 sets a VTOC-updating flag and an update label address. A VTOC-update means 7 updates the inside of VTOC 1-1 by a file management label-update means 6 and a free area management label-update means 5. A volume information management label information resetting means 4 clears the VTOC-updating flag and update label flag. A VTOC inspecting and repairing means 2 performs the repairing process for the VTOC 1-1 by deleting duplicate area information from a free area management label on the condition that the VTOC-updating flag is ON during the execution when area information on a flag management label indicated by the update label address and area information on a free area management label are duplicate.
