PLASTIC OPTICAL FIBER CORD

PURPOSE:To facilitate the peeling of a resin coating and prevent the damage, to improve the workability, furthermore, to improve heat-resistance, and also, in the case of an optical fiber cord constituted of plural optical fibers, to facilitate the maintenance of the arraying state of the fibers and the position of the closely packed optical fibers, to keep the cord in a round well-proportioned shape and to reduce the fiber diameter fluctuation. CONSTITUTION:The plastic optical fiber cord is constituted of one, or plural arrayed plastic optical fibers 1, a tape winding layer 2 constituted by substantially closely winding a tape-like material around the fibers 1 and the resin coating 3 covering the layer 2. The tape winding layer 2 is formed by a tape winding machine, and it is preferable to specify the tape winding angle to be 30 deg. to 60 deg., and also, it is preferable to use the tape made of heat-resistant resin.
