MAGNETIC HEAD AND ITS PRODUCTION

PURPOSE:To easily measure the depth of a magnetic gap with good accuracy, to regulate the depth of the magnetic gap with good accuracy, to stabilize the characteristics of a magnetic head, and to attain good productivity. CONSTITUTION:A depth marker 12 to detect the depth (d) of a magnetic gap (g) is embedded in a melt fitting glass 7 packed in the clearance part held between mutual track width regulating grooves formed on the butting faces of a pair of magnetic core half bodies 1, 2 and a part of the depth marker 12 is exposed on the confronting faces 1b, 2b of a medium. In this method, the depth marker 12 is formed in a shape of a rectangular equilateral triangle. It may be embedded in such a manner that the direction of one side 2a out of two sides having equal length is matched with the depth direction of the magnetic gap (g) and the length t1 of the side 2a is made equal to the depth (d), and the other side 12b of the triangle is exposed on the faces 1b, 2b of a medium.
