Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE: To provide an internal combustion engine assembly which is not influenced by intensive vibration due to difference of thermal expansion between a base of exhaust catalyst and a housing. CONSTITUTION: An exhaust conduit is communicated with an exhaust port of an internal combustion engine and has an inner surface 48. The exhaust conduit has a first conduit portion 52 having an end 62 and a second conduit portion 56 having an end 66. The first and second conduit portions 52, 56 are connected end-to-end. A catalyst 110 which is located within the conduit includes catalytic material 114 and a sleeve 118 surrounding it. The sleeve 118 has a length and an outer surface 130 spaced from the inner surface of the conduit along substantially the entire length of the sleeve 118. The sleeve 118 has a rigid, radially outwardly extending flange 134 which is captured between the end of the first conduit portion 52 and the end of the second conduit portion 56. A flexible gasket 138 is arranged between the flange 134 and the end of one of the first and second conduit portions 52, 56.
