Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To hold an atmosphere in a magnetic disk device under the state, in which abrasion by the contact of a magnetic head and a magnetic disk is most inhibited, and to hold the state of the atmosphere. CONSTITUTION:An inert gas containing a trace quantity of oxygen is used as an internal atmosphere, in which at least the disk 5 of a magnetic disk device and a magnetic head 7 are hermetically sealed, and an oxygen- concentration controller 9 is installed into the sealing section. The controller for oxygen concentration has an electrode system, in which oxygen is generated by electrolysis and consumed, and an electrolytic method, in which the potential of the oxygen electrode of the electrode system is controlled, is used as the controller for oxygen concentration. Oxygen concentration is controlled so that oxygen partial pressure in the atmosphere extends over 0.01ppm to 100ppm.
