APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR WRITING OF SERVO-PATTERN

PURPOSE:To obtain an apparatus and a method which facilitate the writing of a servo-pattern with high precision positioning by a method wherein the head arm of the writing apparatus is divided into the front part and the rear part which are linked with each other by A piezoelectric device, etc., and a laser beam reflecting mirror is provided on the front part. CONSTITUTION:An arm 5 which has a magnetic head 4 on its tip, a driving means 6 which turns the arm 5 in such a direction that makes a magnetic head 4 move in the radial direction of a magnetic disc 2, a position changing means 14 to which a front part 50 and a rear part 51 into which the arm 5 is divided are connected so as to make the front part 50 able to change the position in the turning direction of the arm 5, a first mirror 9 provided on the front part 50 and a first laser beam length measuring means 10 which measures the laser beam length with the reflected light of the laser beam entering the first mirror 9 are provided. While the arm 5 is turned, the position changing means 14 is controlled in accordance with the measured laser beam length and, after the front part 50 is turned to position a magnetic head 4, a servo-pattern is written in the magnetic disc 2.
