EXPANSION JOINT

PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of cracking through dispersion of an impact exerted on a sleeper by a method wherein mounting pieces which surround the upper half of the outer surface of the section of the end part of the sleeper are intercoupled in series and mounted on a steel. CONSTITUTION:A mounting piece 81 formed of a flat steel plate is formed almost in a U-shape in cross section by which the upper half part of the outer shape of the section of the end part of a PC sleeper 1 is surrounded and fitted in the push-in plug 83 of the end part of each of a series of the arranged sleepers through a resilient pad 82 from above and fastened against a floor plate 2 by a coil spring 85 and a fastening bolt 84. A relay steel 80 in a L-shape in cross section is bridged over a series of the mounting pieces 81 to weld together. When an impact force which moves in the direction of width of the PC sleeper 1 acts owing to running of a train, the impact force is dispersed and received by the contact surfaces thereof by the mounting pieces 81 and transmitted through the mounting pieces 81 to the relay steel 80 for absorption, whereby an excessive impact is prevented from being exerted on the embedding plug-embedded part of the PC sleeper 1.
