METHOD FOR POWDERING CHLOROPICRIN AND POWDERED CHLOROPICRIN

PURPOSE:To obtain a powdery agent of chloropicrin capable of suppressing irritancy and lacrimatory and volatilizing properties and facilitating the handling thereof by mixing the chloropicrin with an organic polymeric compound, then spray-drying and instantaneously powdering the resultant mixture. CONSTITUTION:This powdery agent of chloropicrin is obtained by mixing an organic polymeric compound with the chloropicrin, then spray-drying the resultant mixture and thereby instantaneously coating the chloropicrin with the organic polymeric compound. The powdery agent is capable of suppressing the irritancy and lacrimatory properties of the chloropicrin. A water-soluble polymer, a biodegradable polymer, starch, pullulan, polylactic acid, etc., are especially cited as the organic polymeric compound. The volatilization of the resultant powdered chloropicrin is suppressed in a dry state and water in soil is absorbed after application to the soil to rapidly destroy films. Thereby, germicidal are capable of safely performing manifested. Applicators are capable of safely performing operations without being annoyed by the irritancy and lacrimatory properties thereof. Since the powdering and coating are simultaneously carried out in a step for powdering and formulating, the method for powdering is simplified and industrially advantageous.
