VISUAL DISPLAY SYSTEM FOR TELEPHONE SET

PURPOSE:To provide a power-saving telephone set in which a visual display system reducing power consumption is obtained. CONSTITUTION:A CPU (M) 14 of a master set 1 monitors the call reception to external lines 31-3m and an off-hook of telephone sets 21-2n, and when the CPU (M) 14 detects an incoming call to the external lines 31-3m, the CPU (M) 14 sends incoming data to all the telephone sets 21-2n to allow each line display section 202 to display call reception visual display and detects a telephone set in reply with the incoming call or a calling telephone set through off-hook data set by the operation of a hook switch 204 of the telephone set, reads state data of the external lines 31-3m stored in an external line state memory 15 to generate visual display data and sends the data to the reply telephone set or the calling telephone set. Thus, an external line state is displayed for only the line display section 202 of the busy telephone set. Since a large power consumption element like a light emitting element is not started by the telephone set not in use, the power consumption of the system is considerably reduced and the telephone set at a very low operation cost is provided.
