GRAPHIC RECOGNITION METHOD AND DEVICE THEREFOR

PURPOSE:To simplify the graphic recognition to shorten the processing time and the graphic recognition time. CONSTITUTION:The method and the device for graphic recognition consist of a picture taking-in device 1 which takes in and stores variable density picture data, is picture processor 2 which subjects variable density picture data to differential processing to convert this data to differential picture data corresponding to the graphic whose luminance is quickly changed, a one point search device 3 provided with a horizontal scanner 30 which horizontally scans differential picture data with a certain pitch to search one point on the graphic, a multiple point search device 4 provided with a radial search device 40 which calculates distances from one searched point to respective points on the graphic which segments, which pass this one point and are extended at intervals of a certain angle, pass, and a feature quantity calculating device 5 provided with a polar coordinate histogram generator 51 which generates a polar coordinate histogram in accordance with relations between calculates angles and distances and a feature quantity measuring instrument 52 which measures the centroid, the area, the peripheral length, the apex, and the other feature quantities from the generated polar coordinate histogram.
