Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To improve the smoothness or dimensional stability of raw paper for water transfer paper by forming the raw paper by providing a coating layer consisting of inorg. pigment and an adhesive on the gloss surfaces of base paper produced by a Yankee machine. CONSTITUTION:Raw paper for water transfer paper is formed by providing a coating layer consisting of inorg. pigment and an adhesive on the gloss surfaces of base paper produced by a Yankee machine. The coating layer is prepared from a compsn. prepared by compounding inorg. pigment, an adhesive and 0.1-1.5 pts.wt. of a lubricant per 100 pts.wt. of the inorg. pigment. As the inorg. pigment constituting the coating layer, hydrophilic inorg. pigment is pref. and there are calcium carbonate, kaolin, clay, boacked kaolin, satin white or titanium oxide. As an example of the adhesive, there are a synthetic water- soluble adhesive such as polyvinyl alcohol or carboxy modified polyvinyl alcohol and a natural water-soluble adhesive such as oxidized starch or esterified starch.
