ROAD CONSTRUCTION METHOD IN MOUNTAINOUS AND HILLY AREA

PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for a high scaffolding for the construction of an upper floor board and excavate a road space with safety and eliminate the need for a temporary earth retaining work on a large scale and hence prevent an excessive increase in a construction cost and period as well. CONSTITUTION:Prior to the construction of a box 7 which is substantially trapezoidal or rectangular in shape as a road space, the space is cut at a stable slope up to the area equivalent to an upper floor board 8 of the trapezoidal or rectangular box 7. A side wall 9 is constructed continuously from the cut down position outwardly on the slant. Furthermore, the upper floor board 8 which connects the side walls 9 is constructed. In this fashion, at the stage when the side walls 9 and the upper floor boards 8 are finished in this manner, the road space is excavated from the end of the space while subgrade concrete is cast simultaneously.
