BONE QUANTITY INCREASING AGENT

PURPOSE:To obtain a bone quantity increasing agent useful for treatment of a metabolic bone disease caused by the reduction of a bone mineral, such as osteoporosis, etc. CONSTITUTION:This bone quantity increasing agent contains an interferon(IFN), preferably a natural source IFN, especially an IFN-alpha. Although the IFN acts suppressively to a bone resorption, it does not act suppressively to a bone formation, in consequence, the bone quantity is increased, and the increase in the bone quantity is maintained after completion of the administration. The IFN can be used alone or in combination with the other bone quantity increasing agents and suppressing agents for bone resorption enhancing factor, and its daily dosage is generally in a range of 1-20 million IU, specifically 100-10000 thousand IU.
