Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To provide a pulse synthesizer which is simple in constitution and is inexpensive. CONSTITUTION:This pulse synthesizer is formed by using a porous silicon film 10. This porous silicon has a light induction and absorption effect that the absorption of light is weak when the intensity of incident light is sufficiently small and that the absorption of the light increases sharply and the intensity of the transmitted light is satd. when the intensity of the incident light increases to the threshold value or above. The porous silicon film 10 is produced by using, for example, an anodic chemical conversion method. A laser beam L01 of the specified intensity lower than the threshold value and a laser beam L11 having a prescribed pulse width are synthesized by making these laser beams incident on the porous silicon film 10 of such pulse synthesizer and the transmittance of the porous silicon film 10 to the synthesized light is controlled by the laser beam L11, by which the laser beam L01 is changed to the light of a desired waveform and is outputted.
