METHOD FOR CONTROLLING COMBUSTION IN SHAFT FURNACE FOR MELTING METAL

PURPOSE:To enable a continuous melting operation to be carried out easily and stably by a method wherein some variable control elements in combustion such as the intra-furnace material height or the fuel supplying amount or the like are adjusted with the intra-furnace pressure and the intra-furnace pressure gradient being applied as control factors. CONSTITUTION:The intra-furnace pressure is measured by a pressure sensor or the like continuously or intermittently with a predetermined time interval, thereby the intra-furnace pressure and intra-furnace pressure gradient are calculated. It is judged whether or not these intra-furnace pressure and intra-furnace pressure gradients are within a predetermined allowable range. When at least one of these values exceeds out of the allowable range, the combustion state is controlled by adjusting the combustion variable control elements. With such an arrangement as above, it is possible to perform a continuous melting operation easily and stably.
