Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To provide an air conditioner for a vehicle in which an outdoor heat exchanger can be effectively defrosted even when a defrosting operation based on a manual operation of a passenger is not executed when frosting of the exchanger is detected. CONSTITUTION:A defrost switch 43 for starting defrosting of an outdoor heat exchanger at the time of heating is provided on an air conditioner operating panel 5, and has an indicator 43a which is flashed at the time of detecting frosting of the exchanger. When the switch 43 is closed by a passenger at the time of flashing the indicator 43a, the heating is switched to the defrosting by an air conditioner controller. The controller automatically switches the heating to the defrosting even it the switch 43 is not closed at the time of passing a predetermined time after the indicator 43a is flashed.
