PRODUCTION OF CYANONORBORNENE

PURPOSE:To stably obtain the subject compound having a high quality without producing insoluble polymers adhered to the inner wall, etc., of a reactor by reacting dicyclopentadiene with acrylonitrile in the presence of an N- nitrosoamine compound. CONSTITUTION:Dicyclopentadiene and acrylonitrile are charged in a molar ratio of 1:2.5 into a stainless steel autoclave equipped with a stirrer and subsequently reacted with each other in the presence of an N-nitrosoamine of the formula (R1, R2 are each an alkyl, an aryl, etc.) (e.g. N-nitrosodimethylamine) at 180 deg.C for 3hrs to stably obtain the objective cyanonorbornene in a state capable of remarkably inhibiting the production of polymers soluble in the reaction solution and further without producing insoluble polymers adhered to the inner wall, etc., of the reactor even on a continuous production operation.
