Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To obtain a new N-phenylisothiazolone derivative useful as a controlling agent against adherence of noxious aquatic organisms such as barnacle, Mytilidae, Ulvaceae and green laver as well as against slime. CONSTITUTION:This agent contains, as active ingredient, an N- phenylisothiazolone derivative expressed by formula I (X1 and X2 are each H, Cl or Br; R is a lower haloalkyl), e.g. 2-(4-trifluoromethoxyphenyl)-4- isothiazol-3-one. This compound of formula I is obtained by reaction between a disulfide compound of formula II and a halogenating agent. Furthermore, a copper compound (i.e., cuprous oxide, copper rhodanide, copper oxine, copper naphthenate, copper glycinate, cuprous chloride, cuprous carbonate or metallic copper) and/or a resin (e.g. vinyl chloride-based resin, acrylic resin) may be pref. formulated in this agent.
