Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To enhance airtightness and stabilize height dimension of a sealing body by preventing buckling of a rivet which forms the sealing body of a square sealed battery, generating in a caulking process. CONSTITUTION:A square sealed battery is manufactured by forming a sealing body in which the head of a rivet is protruded upward from a cover plate, a hollow shaft is inserted into a hole of the cover plate through a gasket, and the tip of the hollow shaft protruded downward from the lower surface of the cover plate is caulked together with a lead plate which is fit to the tip, and by fixing the sealing body to an outer jacket can in which a power generating element is accommodated. The thickness of the shaft 10b of the rivet 10 is gradually reduced from the vicinity of the root of the head 10a toward the tip 10d.
