ON-LINE CHARACTER RECOGNIZING DEVICE

PURPOSE:To provide the on-line character recognizing device equipped with a character registering function. CONSTITUTION:This device is provided with an automatic partial pattern dividing means 7 for dividing a written character into partial patterns according to prescribed rules for the order of strokes without using any stored information in a fixed dictionary 5a1. A character registering means 4a is provided with a parameter for each partial pattern for deciding similarity to be required for recognition from the stroke information of the character written for registration and the information of the divided partial patterns due to the automatic partial pattern dividing means 7 and registers that parameter on a registration dictionary 5a2. On the other hand, a registered character recognizing means 4a is provided with a parameter for each partial pattern from the stroke information of the character written for registration and the divided partial pattern information due to the automatic partial pattern dividing means 7 and recognizes the written character by deciding the similarity to the correspondent information stored in the registration dictionary 5a2.
