Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To prevent fins in the core parts from being damaged mainly from accumulation of fatigue by setting a specific measuring point in a fluid inlet header tank and controlling the speed of temperature rise and drop of a heat exchanger in such a fashion that the differential temperature may be within an allowable differential temperature predetermined from an allowable load to the fins in the heat exchanger. CONSTITUTION:A measuring point A is set in an inlet header tank of high temperature fluid. The measuring point A is set to a spacer bar 31 on a passage either on a first stage or a middle stage from the outside and within the width of an opening section 5 of the passage. A measuring point B is set to a core outside wall which is a spacer bar 32 on the same stage as the measuring point A. Furthermore, a measuring point C is set to a side plate 11 in the laminating direction at the position of the same width as the measuring point A. The differential temperatures between the measuring points A, B and C are computed, thereby controlling the speed of a temperature rise and drop of a heat exchanger so that they may conform to a predetermined allowable temperature. This construction makes it possible to prevent deformations or damages of the fins 2 during operating cycles of intake of high temperature fluid or intake- interruptions.
