PROCESS AND APPARATUS FOR PRODUCING COMPOSITE WIRE

PURPOSE:To prevent such a trouble that cut fibers remain near a leading out port and jam therein to disable taking up by bundling plural separated fiber bundles by twisting these fiber bundles while passing the fiber bundles through the inside of a molten base and bundling the fiber bundles to each other. CONSTITUTION:The fiber bundles 3 drawn downward out of taking up parts 14 of respective taking-up means 7 are introduced into an immersing container 27, are led out of the leading out port 30 and are wound and held around a taking-up machine 35. The taking-up means 7A rotates around a central axis 9 of rotation and other taking-up means 7 rotate around the respective axes 9 when a motor 17 for rotation is driven. The fiber bundles 3 are thus twisted. A holder 8 rotates around a central shaft 6 of rotation when a motor 24 for revolution is driven. Since the respective taking-up means 7 are arranged on the same circumference of the holder 8, these means revolve around the shaft 6. The respective fiber bundles 3 are twisted while the bundles are held immersed in a molten matrix metal 4 by simultaneously driving the taking up machine 35 and the motors 17, 24. The fiber bundles 3 are thus combined with the metal 4 and and integrally bundled.
