DUMMY BAR FOR STARTING CONTINUOUS CASTING AND METHOD FOR STARTING CONTINUOUS CASTING USING THIS DUMMY BAR

PURPOSE:To improve the quality of a cast slab bottom by enabling the drawing at the almost same drawing speed as the stationary state since just after starting the pouring and approaching the pouring flow state in a mold to the state at the stationary drawing time as much as possible, at the time of continuously casting molten metal. CONSTITUTION:A dummy bar head 5 having a connecting structure with the cast slab bottom is fitted to the tip part of the dummy bar 6 for starting the continuous casting. A cast slab bottom guide 7 fitting in a mold 4 and having hollow shape and thinned at the tip part, in at least a part of the thickness of the side part contacting with the inner surface of the mold 4, is fitted to the dummy bar head 5. The cast slab bottom guide 7 is made to be longer than the length of the mold 4. After setting the upper end of the cast slab bottom guide 7 so as to come to the upper surface of the mold 4 or the upper position than the mold and setting the connecting part of the dummy bar head 5 and the cast slab bottom so as to come to the lower surface of the mold 4 or the lower position than the mold, the casting is started.
