Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To provide a surface material of organic foam and a method for production thereof wherein a problem-free processing for expansion of the foam is possible without causing any leakage of a raw foaming liquid and the various physical properties of the foam thus obtained are improved and, in particular, the dimensional stability is obtained for changes in humidity and thermal factors. CONSTITUTION:A surface material comprises 90-30 pts.wt. glass fiber having a fiber diameter of 5-20mum and a fiber length of 3 pts.wt. sepiolite, 5-30 pts.wt. binding material per 100 pts.wt. of a mixture of the aforesaid glass fiber and sepiolite and other additive. Concerning the production method, the glass fiber, the sepiolite adjusted to a freeness of at most 200ml, the binding material and other additive are dispersed in water in the aforesaid proportions to prepare mixed slurry and the surface material is made therefrom and dried into the form of a sheet.
