PHOTOGRAPHIC ELEMENT

PURPOSE: To obtain the photographic element having resistance to dye crystallization and leucocyan dye formation by forming a support holding for a silver halide emulsion and a 2-phenylcar-bamoyl-1-naphthol type image controlling coupler for forming a specified cyan dye. CONSTITUTION: This photographic element has the support for holding at least one kind of silver halide emulsion and at least one kind of cyan dye forming 2-phenyl carbamoyl-1-naphthol type coupler represented by the formula in which R1 is an alkoxy or phenoxy group; R2 is an alkyl or phenyl group or the like; R3 is an H atom or an alkyl group; the total carbon atoms of R1 -R3 are >=3: Z is a structural group of the formula: -A-B-N=N-D, and a coupling releasable group for releasing a blocked dye group; A is a divalent bonding group to be released by reaction with the oxidation product of a developing agent and releasing Z from the coupler residue; B is an aromatic group; and D is an aryl group or the like.
