Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE: To create a longitudinally adjustable support for a chair, a desk, or the like, which can be simply connected to a pedestal. CONSTITUTION: A support comprises an erect pipe 1 and a length adjusting element 2. A sleeve-like cone part 17 is provided for fixing the support to a pedestal, and it includes at least one recessed part 20 engaged with a projecting part on the inner side 22. Plural projecting parts 21 are provided at spaces over the full length of the erect pipe 1, and the cone part 17 which is formed by a shell half body 19 or simply has a clearance is fixed at a different height on the erect pipe 1 in the direction of the axis 3.
