Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE: To provide a surgical hand piece which can be quickly and easily disassembled and reassembled and on which there is no need to enlarge an outside dimension of the hand piece. CONSTITUTION: A hand piece 1 has a hand piece sleeve 4, and a chuck 5 to rotate around the axis to hold a tool 9, is arranged in this hand piece sleeve. This chuck is energized by a spring 8, and can be loosened through operation mechanisms 12 and 13, and the chuck is composed of two tubes 6 and 7 relatively slidable along the chuck rotating axis 22. In order to loosen the chuck 5, a fastening lever 13 is arranged so as to be swingable around the lever axis 14 in the almost vertical direction to the chuck axis 22. A part 18 of an accompanying body 12 of the operation mechanisms 12 and 13 which can slidingly move in the shaft direction together with both chuck tubes 6 and 7 and do not rotate together, is inserted into an undercut part 23 of the fastening lever 13 in the direction of the chuck axis 22.
