Zusammenfassung: | PURPOSE:To provide the inexpensive display element used for a large-sized display device. CONSTITUTION:A housing 2 of the display element 1 is partitioned by two sheets of partition plates 3 to three chambers. Cold cathode ray tubes 4 of a straight tube type are disposed at the centers of the respective chambers in the longitudinal directions toward the back and forth direction of the housing 2 and light transmission plates 5-1 and 5-2 are disposed above and below these tubes in tight contact therewith. Front end lead wires 4-1 are bent along the body of the cold cathode ray tubes 4 and are led out together with rear end lead wires 4-2 backward of the housing 2 and are connected respectively to the distributing terminals of a printed circuit board. These cold cathode ray tubes emit red, green and blue fluorescent lights respectively when energized. The rear ends of the light transmission plates 5-1 and 5-2 consisting polycarbonate, etc., are cut diagonally and the front ends thereof are located on the display surface of the housing 2 so that the incident light diffused and irradiated from the cold cathode ray tubes 4 are totally reflected at the diagonally cut rear ends and are led out forward while making total reflection even at the flank parts. Both surfaces of the partition plates 3 are deposited by evaporation with silver to reflect the light emitted by the cold cathode ray tubes 4 toward the light transmission plats and to shut off the leak light to the adjacent chambers. |
