LIQUID-CRYSTAL DISPLAY PANEL AND LIQUID- CRYSTAL PROJECTOR APPLYING IT

PURPOSE: To suppress divergence of light to obtain a clear picture by providing a light compensation means, which converts light passing a liquid crystal layer to parallel rays of light, and a projection lens system which projects light passing the light compensation means to a screen. CONSTITUTION: A convex lens type microlens 441 which converges incident light 403 on a picture element area of liquid crystal 43 through a light transmission area 413 is arranged on an outside face so as to correspond to the light transmission area 413. A concave lens type second microlens 442a which diverges exit light 404 to form the light of rays parallel with the optical axis is provided on the outside face of a second substrate 42. In this constitution, parallel incident light 403 is converged while passing the first microlens 441 and is made incident on a picture element 400 is changed to light of 404 passing the picture element 400 is changed to light of rays parallel with the optical axis while being diverged by the second lens 442a. Thus, a clear picture is obtained because the rectilinear propagation of exit light is improved by the second lens 442a.
