PRODUCTION OF URETHANE FOAM

PURPOSE:To obtain a urethane foam, having uniform and fine cells and excellent in filling properties and dimensional stability without destroying the ozonosphere by reacting a specific polyol mixture with an organic isocyanate compound in the presence of a cyclic ether compound, water, a catalyst and a foam stabilizer. CONSTITUTION:This urethane foam is obtained by reacting a polyol mixture having >=2 active hydrogens reactive with isocyanate group and 4.5-8 average number of functional groups with an organic isocyanate compound having >=2 isocyanate groups such as diphenylmethane diisocyanate in the presence of a cyclic ether compound, inert to the isocyanate group and having 50-110 deg.C boiling point such as 1,3-dioxolane in an amount of preferably 3-30 pts.wt. (based on 100 pts.wt. polyol mixture), water in an amount of preferably 0.5-10 pts.wt. (based on 100 pts.wt. polyol compound), a catalyst such as N-methylmorpholine and a foam stabilizer such as an organosilicon compound.
