CONSTITUTION:In an apparatus reading the printing plate or printed matter 1 formed by a computer or a scanner 5, when the printing plate 7 or printed matter 1 is read by a reading sensor 2, the read image data is data of a printing image obliquely read from the relation between the speed performing the reading scanning of the printing plate or printed matter and the feed speed sending the printed plate or printed matter. Therefore, positional deviation with image data is generated and an error is generated in an inspection result. In order to eliminate this positional error, the reference data (a) formed from image data (c) is subjected to preliminarily stepwise shifting processing by an image position correcting circuit 13 and comparison inspection is performed by a comparator 4.
